How It Works

Behind our office, we have set up a 300-gallon container specifically for food trucks to dump their used grease into. The alley is very wide and can accommodate the longest and widest food trucks. Pictured is what you will see when you drive behind our building. The red container is accessible and close to our dumpster, where you are free to throw the waste jugs and boxes.

Be Sure To Pour Slowly

Pouring the oil slowly will help prevent spillage across the front of the container and, most importantly, prevent splashing on you. The last thing you want is to be covered in oil, so just make sure to initially pour it slowly. Once the pour is stable, feel free to flip the box upside down, as pictured, and let it flow freely.

Collapse Your Boxes and Crush Your Jugs

When you're wrapping up, make sure to remove the jugs from the boxes. With the box removed, pull it apart at the seams to flatten it out. This lets us hold more containers and ensures there is space for you the next time you dump the oil.

When throwing away the plastic jugs, push them down from the top and push the sides inward. Once they are collapsed all the way, put the lid back on and screw it tight to make sure they don't reflate.

After you dump the used oil and get rid of the trash, that's it! There is no need for any paperwork (unless requested).

  • How often should I have my cooking oil disposed of?

The timing for cooking oil disposal depends on how much cooking your business does. Busy restaurants should dispose of oil every 1-2 weeks, while less busy places can do it monthly. Regular disposal keeps food tasting good and helps avoid health and safety issues.

  • What are the benefits of professional cooking oil disposal?

Professional cooking oil disposal helps you follow local rules, protect the environment, and avoid plumbing and fire problems. It also keeps your kitchen clean and safe, which is important for food businesses. You might even get money back for recycled oil.

  • Can cooking oil be recycled, and what happens to it after disposal?

Yes, cooking oil can be recycled. After we collect it, the oil is cleaned and processed. It can then be turned into things like biodiesel fuel, animal food, or industrial lubricants. This recycling helps reduce waste and is good for the environment.

  • What types of cooking oil do you accept?

At First Texas Grease, we accept all types of used cooking oils, including vegetable, canola, peanut, and animal fats. Whether your kitchen uses oil for frying, sautéing, or baking, we can handle it safely and efficiently. Our goal is to make cooking oil disposal in Houston, TX as convenient as possible for all types of food businesses.

We also accept oil from residential customers and food trucks. Each type of oil is carefully processed after collection to ensure it is recycled properly. By bringing your used oil to us, you contribute to reducing waste and supporting sustainable practices in our community.

  • Do I need an appointment to drop off my used cooking oil?

Not at all. No appointment is necessary for most customers. We designed our site so you can quickly and safely dispose of your used cooking oil in Houston, TX without scheduling ahead. Our wide alley and 300-gallon container make drop-offs easy for even the largest food trucks.

If you have special requirements, such as large volumes or grease trap collections, we recommend contacting us in advance. This helps us ensure everything is prepared for a smooth and efficient disposal experience tailored to your business needs.

  • Can I dispose of cooking oil in any container?

We encourage all of our customers to bring cooking oil in sturdy, leak-proof containers. Cardboard boxes and plastic jugs are acceptable, as long as they are sealed properly. Once emptied, we ask that boxes be collapsed and jugs crushed to maximize space for future drop-offs.

Using proper containers not only keeps the area clean but also ensures safe cooking oil disposal in Houston, TX. Avoiding spills and leaks protects both your vehicle and our facility, creating a better experience for all customers who visit.

  • Is there a fee for cooking oil disposal?

Our standard drop-off for residential and small food truck volumes is free of charge. This allows our community to dispose of used oil responsibly without worrying about additional costs. We do offer professional services for larger operations or specialized disposal needs, which may involve a nominal fee.

Transparent pricing ensures all customers understand the value of safe cooking oil disposal in Houston, TX. You can always call or fill out our online form for clarification about your specific situation, so you know what to expect before you arrive.

  • How should I transport used cooking oil safely?

Transporting used cooking oil safely starts with selecting sturdy, sealed containers that will not leak. Carrying oil in upright containers and avoiding overfilling prevents spills during transit. Once you arrive at our location, our trained staff will guide you to our 300-gallon container for proper cooking oil disposal in Houston, TX.

  • What should I do if my container leaks during drop-off?

If a container leaks while at our facility, our team is trained to handle minor spills immediately. We have absorbent materials and cleanup equipment on hand to prevent hazards and maintain a clean, safe environment. Our staff will assist you so the process can continue safely.
